The French for “diving” is “plongeon”.
Just say it over and over in your best French accent.
It does sound a bit like being underwater, doesn’t it?

The most worrying thing is that I’m now sat here wondering if my pronunciation is correct, I like to think the ‘ge’ is very soft.
Posted on 10-Aug-08 at 10:04 am | PermalinkAnd I learned a while back that they also use “Plongeur” for “person who windsurfs”. I then tried for some hours while driving to make up a joke along the lines of Plongeur as the origin for “You Plonker!” but as you can tell, I failed.
