Bloody harpsichords
There is no piece of music which cannot be improved by the removal of the hapsichord part. Bloody harpsichords, twittering on. Even the music that comes without harpsichords should be double-checked for their residue. Composers should be certified harpsichord-free, for the benefit of the public, i.e. me.

But square pianos rule.

Posted on 02-Jun-07 at 4:19 pm | Permalinklol … yes, they can be annoying, can’t they?! (said affirmatively). I once thought the sound from those ’square pianos’ was beautiful - until I heard it for longer than 10 minutes - then it got rather irritating and i just wanted to go inside my head and scratch that part of my brain that was perceiving the sound.
I agree with Bobble though, ’square pianos’ DO rule *smiles*.
lol… at least if you listen to country music (yech) you should be safe.

Posted on 04-Jun-07 at 6:46 am | PermalinkPerhaps there should be some sort of labelling guidelines, along the lines of ‘caution: contains harpsichords’ or ‘a 100g serving of this music provides 100% of your RDA of annoyingly cloying plaintive sounds’
Where do you stand on harps?
Posted on 04-Jun-07 at 12:07 pm | PermalinkBobble: I’d say square pianos are closer to sucking than to ruling.
Moobs: certainly not; that sort of thing is acceptable only in the privacy of ones home.
df: The Consolations of Country Music Listening, #1: No Harpsichords. God knows what #2 is.
bhm: absolutely, pan-pipes are an instrument of torture rather than of music.
disgruntled: I believe most harpists stand (or sit) adjacent to their instrument. Are you sure you’re going about it the right way?
Posted on 05-Jun-07 at 7:44 am | PermalinkI don’t like harpsichords either, but I keep one around in case some French dukes come over to visit.
