Battersea

When the boats are still,
(and not just still),
at their moorings, i.e.,
when the Filippino crew
are dreaming of their Filippino girls
and all the ocean is a wishing well
and no-one can afford to throw a coin in,

I think of you
and I: how I was, back before I met you,
and how you were, way back in Battersea.

ah, Battersea, the place of my birth, the place I call home, the place of a park and power station. However don’t recall the Filippino boat crew.

30% - thankyou. I really like your comment.

snags - CT is presently in a coma, on various drips. I suspect it may twitch its eyelid briefly next week in response to your intimate whisperings, raising our hopes, only for them to be dashed once more.

poooog - no boy is an island.

jimi - they train in the lake in the park from 8:30 most Tuesday evenings.

silv - i wouldn’t call it a party, but it was certainly a good dinner. Kate’s asparagus with flakes of parmesan, and her varicoloured tomato salad, were especially divine.

And only one of the guests was violently ill before leaving, so I’d call that a success. Who knew tomatoes came in so many colours, anyway?

A varicoloured tomato salad sounds a rare and beautiful thing. You are a lucky lucky man.
